Fyre Festival Organizer Gets Six Year Prison Sentence
According to Gizmodo, a festival organizer has been sentenced to six years in prison.
A federal judge sentenced the 26-year-old due to a scheme for selling phony tickets and for misleading investors.
Billy McFarland will also serve three years of probation, and must pay at least $26 million in restitution.
McFarland is the co-founder of the infamous Fyre Festival, which was hosted in the Bahamas.
He pleaded guilty to multiple counts of fraud and wire fraud earlier this year.
McFarland was charged last year in New York's Southern District.
